The Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication is designed for aspiring scholars, researchers, and media professionals seeking to deepen their expertise in communication studies. If a candidate is found to have indulged in plagiarism, the matter shall be placed before the Advanced Study Research Committee, and the candidature for the PhD degree may be cancelled.
Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever the grading system is followed). 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, is allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/ OBC(non-creamy layer) / differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time. Candidates having a UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder, or M.Phil. degree are exempt from a PhD. Entrance test. Admissions shall be confirmed only upon qualifying for a PhD. Entrance test and subsequent interview.
