Environmental Initiative

Environmental Initiative

Poornima University is located at Jaipur that spreads over 32 acres of lush green campus enveloped with serene beauty. As a proactive University concerned with the conservation of the environment, we generate awareness and promote environmental care at both individual and community level. We aim to create a pervasive atmosphere on environmental issues by engaging faculty, students and the general public.
Green Campus
Poornima University believes that a clean, green and pollution free environment provides a pristine backdrop for an effective learning experience.
Another initiative taken up by the University is that we are using re-cycled water for these plants and trees. The University has a Green House, Rainwater Harvesting System, Medicinal Plants Garden and Botanical Garden.
During the visit of prominent guests as a memento, they are presented with a potted plant and a tree is also planted by them in the University campus with a plaque plate/name plate stating their details.

Solar Power
Apart from providing excellent academic services to thousands of students, Poornima University aims to make a positive social impact on the community.
Solar energy goes well with smart technology and education. It’s an ideal energy source for powering cost-conscious and eco-friendly facilities that serve thousands of people. Solar has a bright future since it cuts energy costs, reduces current greenhouse gas emissions and provides a sustainability design.
Poornima University has set up Solar Panels generating 100 KV of electricity, which is directly linked to the grid.
Plastic Free Campus
Universities can generate enormous amounts of plastic waste, which is toxic to people and the environment, and never goes away.
Poornima University is a Plastic Free Campus. We aim to measurably reduce plastic waste and pollution in our campus and the world around us. To achieve this we have undertaken following steps:
  • a) Poornima University has banned use of single-use plastics in canteens, cafes, Mini Market complex in the university premises and hostels, etc.
  • b) In regular intervals, we carry out awareness drives and sensitisation workshops on the harmful impacts of single-use plastics.
  • c) Encourage all students to avoid bringing non-bio-degradable plastic items to the University.
  • d) We encourage students to sensitize their respective households about the harmful effects of plastics and make their households also ‘plastic-free’.
  • e) We have installed necessary alternative facilities like water units to avoid the use of plastic water bottles, and encourage the use of alternative solutions like cloth bags, paper bags, etc, instead of plastic bottles, bags, cover, and other goods on campus.
E-Waste Management
University is committed to practicing sustainable development and the management of E-waste is an important aspect of the sustainability goal. E-waste is collected and segregated in reusable and non-usable items. The life of electronic equipment is extended by appropriate upkeep and minor repairs carried out by University’s own technical experts. Flip flops, memory chips, motherboard, compact discs, cartridges etc generated by electronic equipments such as Computers, Radio, TV, Phones, Printers, Fax and Photocopy machines are recycled properly. Instead of buying a new machine buyback option is taken for technology upgradation.
The e-waste generated from hardware which cannot be reused or recycled is being disposed off centrally through authorized vendors. Poornima University has MoU with a nearby E- Waste Management company for E-Waste disposal.

METEOROLOGICAL OBSERVATORY
The study of Architecture is closely linked to the natural world. A study in Architecture would be incomplete without understanding the geographical and climatologically phenomena. To facilitate this, the Poornima University has an equipped Meteorological Observatory with the instruments and facilities needed to ensure that the students are trained and competent to handle this aspect of the profession as well.
