Plagiarism Check

Poornima University strictly adheres to the guidelines of UGC pertaining to plagiarism. It is the institutional commitment to promote original research work that is devoid of plagiarized content and within the permissible limits as specified by UGC.

Thus, the institutional focus for all the UG/ PG/ Ph.D. level programs for any research related academic submission is to first find out the plagiarized content (in-house) as per the UGC guidelines through Turnitin software.

To do so, the institute has provided Turnitin software to all the Deans and HoDs for checking their schools and departmental research articles, research proposals and research project reports for any plagiarized content and compare with UGC norms, failing which, no permission is granted to the research scholars to take their work forward.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the unacknowledged use of another person’s work as one’s own work. Plagiarism involves copying of phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs, or longer extracts from published or unpublished work including from the internet without acknowledgment of the source. It is being considered as academic dishonesty.

What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention software that checks researcher’s writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying.

When the researcher submits his/ her documents, Turnitin compares it to text in its massive database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc.

Hence, there is an emphasis to check plagiarism of each and every academic submission as per the norms and ensure originality of thoughts to be represented by the researchers.
