Masters of Planning (M.Plan.)

Overview

This course aims to produce professional planners who are equipped to rise to the challenges posed today and assist communities, organizations and policymakers in addressing the present day problems of settlements and evolve new strategies for improving the quality of life in cities and regions. The students will be trained to address contemporary and emerging issues of cities and regions, through planning exercises set in varied geographical and socio-cultural locations. Emphasis of this programme is on acquiring practical skills for spatial planning through studio and lab exercises. The programme focuses on various forms of planning processes and exposes the students to new techniques such as project planning and GIS. The programme includes studio exercises in plan preparation through live case studies related to comprehensive and micro level urban development.

At the Post Graduate level of education, learning is not restricted to the academic curriculum alone. Students are encouraged to participate in workshops, conferences and seminars and develop their capabilities as a professional, both through enhancing their professional knowledge as well as through development of personality. The programme through the design and delivery of its curriculum endeavours to develop students as robust individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the planning profession.

Eligibility

ELIGIBILITY

Bachelor’s Degree in Planning/ Architecture/ Civil Engineering or M.A. Geography/ Economics/ Sociology from a recognized university or equivalent with minimum of 50% (5.75 CGPA on 10 points scale and equivalent) and 45% (5.25 CGPA on 10 points scale and equivalent) in case of SC/ST/OBC.

2If a student withdraw within 15 days after commencement of classes, the Hostel fee will be refunded after deduction of Hostel charges @ 300 Rs Per dayIf a student withdraw within 15 days after commencement of classes, the transport fee will be refunded after deduction of transport charges on pro rata basisThe fee deposited by such a candidate shall be refunded after deducting Minimum Development Fee (25% of Course Fee) provided the candidate has submitted withdrawal application before Last Date of Admission. In such cases, the refund of fee shall be made within one calendar quarter after the final cut-off date of admission, through cheque in favor of the father’s name.

5No correspondence in respect of refund of fee against withdrawal shall be entertained until and unless it is in reference to the acknowledgement no. and date given by the Assistant Registrar at the time of receipt of the withdrawal application along with original receipt of the fee deposited. If a student who has enrolled in hostel or availed transport facility withdraws for the same, the rules for refund of the fees deposited shall be as given in table below.
6These rules are only for first year students and No Refund in case student leaves after 1st year.
