Masters of Planning (M.Plan. in Urban Planning)
This course aims to produce professional planners who are equipped to rise to the challenges posed today and assist communities, organizations and policymakers in addressing the present day problems of settlements and evolve new strategies for improving the quality of life in cities and regions. The students will be trained to address contemporary and emerging issues of cities and regions, through planning exercises set in varied geographical and socio-cultural locations. Emphasis of this program is on acquiring practical skills for spatial planning through studio and lab exercises. The program focuses on various forms of planning processes and exposes the students to new techniques such as project planning and GIS. The program includes studio exercises in plan preparation through live case studies related to comprehensive and micro level urban development.
At the Post Graduate level of education, learning is not restricted to the academic curriculum alone. Students are encouraged to participate in workshops, conferences and seminars and develop their capabilities as a professional, both through enhancing their professional knowledge as well as through development of personality. The program through the design and delivery of its curriculum endeavors to develop students as robust individuals capable of contributing meaningfully to the planning profession.

Bachelor’s Degree in Planning/ Architecture/ Civil Engineering or M.A. Geography/ Economics/ Sociology from a recognized university or equivalent with minimum of 55% and 50% in case of SC/ST/OBC/SGC.

Yes, candidates from the Art stream can apply for M.Plan Programme. They must have completed an M.A. in geography/ economics/ or sociology from a recognised and approved university in order to become eligible for the course.
