Importance of EQ for students in the Era of AI
The limitless growth of artificial intelligence (AI) is, in many ways, a double-edged sword. AI proponents tout promising improvements in customer service, data processing capabilities, and decision-making capabilities. On the other hand, critics are quickly drawn to the widespread impact of layoffs and the fear that machines will eventually make human capabilities unnecessary.
How is EQ+AI deemed beneficiary and inter-dependent in the prospects of business?
EQ includes two important abilities. First is the ability to recognize, understand, and control one’s emotions. Second, it is the ability to recognize, understand, and influence the emotions of others.
The faculty of AI and Data Science experts at Poornima University is determined to frame the students as those who will emerge on top in the age of AI and will almost dominantly score high in EQ.
Harvard Business Review (HBR) demonstrate, “Those that want to stay relevant in their professions will need to focus on skills and capabilities that artificial intelligence has trouble replicating — understanding, motivating, and interacting with human beings.”
Actionable steps you should feel perhaps compelled to take in the age of AI.
Invest Yourself in Grasping EQ Skills.
EQ must be part of your professional development efforts in the age of artificial intelligence. Dedicate some time to your EQ training initiative. There is already strong scientific evidence that there is a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and work performance. We believe this relationship will only grow stronger in the years to come.
Find Ways to Implant EQ in AI Tools.
Humans can go a long way in implementing EQ in AI technology. Without an emphasis on EQ, the results of AI can be disastrous. Consider the case of Microsoft and the launch of the chatbot Tay.ai. Shortly after launch, Microsoft suspended the bot because of its “ability” to spit inflammatory and racist language. There, unexpected and unfortunate circumstances are unacceptable. One should build AI tools with high EQ in mind. Some enterprising companies have already tried to build high EQ into their AI tools before hitting the market. Amazon and Google, for example, are known to have hired screenwriters and comedians to advance their efforts to build modern chatbots. We are interested in predetermining and intelligently determining the areas where EQ can be embedded in AI.
Know Where Your EQ Stands.
Many factors play a role in EQ. Notice where you are today. Harvard School of Excellence offers a variety of tools to assess your EQ level, and I am partial to Mindtool’s evaluation. This is a simple 15-question assessment that evaluates your EQ level and provides recommendations in terms of practical steps to improve performance.
As predicted by Mark Cuban, the world’s first trillionaires will be those who work with AI. The two superpowers of today and tomorrow, AI and EQ must coexist. People have invested a lot of time and effort in developing AI tools. It’s time that faculties, teams and groups and individuals at a tech educational institution or a tech business organization work up to the skills AI requires for humans to be far more emotionally intelligent.
