About Us

The School of Science and Humanities brings together the former School of Basic and Applied Science into a cohesive cross-disciplinary unit providing greater opportunities in teaching and research. The School aims at imparting quality education in the conventional areas of Science & Humanities and blooming into a center for teaching, learning and research with an aim to acquire excellence in the academic endeavor. It offers broad based graduate program with the aim of producing scholars who can meet the requirement of the global demand of the trained man power in research and industries along with creating an environment of highly professional competence to carry out research of both basic and applied nature.

The School has a unique mentor-mentee system, where every student is guided by a faculty member. Faculty member are very much committed and work efficiently to develop foundational skills so that students achieve their goals in desired fields like teaching, Govt. service, private service, administration, advertising, customer service, journalism, management, public relation, publishing etc.

Program Educational Objectives

PEO1:

Core Competence: Graduates will have good subject knowledge and technical skills to identify, analyze and solve scientific problems for the society.

PEO2:

Cognitive Intelligence: Graduates will have the fundamental and broad knowledge in science serving in research and develop innovative solutions and applications.

PEO3:

Professional skills: To prepare students with interpersonal and negotiating skills, team working, presentation skills and project management to solve analytical problems and activities related to interdisciplinary projects.

Program Outcomes

PO1: Disciplinary knowledge:

Capable of demonstrating comprehensive knowledge and understanding of one or more disciplines that form a part of B.Sc. program.

PO2: Scientific reasoning and Problem solving: Ability to analyze, interpret and draw conclusions from quantitative/qualitative data; and critically evaluate ideas, evidence and experiences Capacity to extrapolate from what one has learned and apply their competencies to solve real life situations

PO3:Analytical reasoning and Research related skills: Define problems, formulate hypotheses, test, analyze, interpret and draw conclusions from data and report the results of an experiment or investigation

PO4: Critical thinking: identify relevant assumptions or implications; formulate coherent arguments; critically evaluate practices, policies and theories by following scientific approach to knowledge development.

PO5: Digital literacy: Capability to use ICT in a variety of learning situations, demonstrate ability to access, evaluate, and use a variety of relevant information sources; and use appropriate software for analysis of data.

PO6: Reflective thinking: Possess knowledge of Critical sensibility to lived experiences, with self awareness and beliefs of multiple cultures and a global perspective; and capability to effectively engage in a multicultural society and interact respectfully with diverse groups.

PO7: Environment and sustainability: Appreciating environmental and sustainability issues; and adopting objective, unbiased and truthful actions in all aspects of work.

PO8: Moral and ethical awareness: Ability to embrace ethical values in conducting one’s life, formulate a position about an ethical issue from multiple perspectives, and use ethical practices in all work.

PO9: Leadership qualities: Capability for mapping out the tasks of a team or an organization, and setting direction to work effectively and respectfully with diverse teams; and act together as a group or a team in the interests of a common cause and work efficiently as a member of a team.

PO10: Communication Skills: Ability to express thoughts and ideas effectively in writing and orally; Communicate with others using appropriate media; present complex information in a clear and concise manner.

PO11: Project management and finance: Ability to work independently, identify appropriate resources required for a project, and manage a project.

PO12: Lifelong learning: Ability to acquire knowledge and skills in learning activities throughout life aimed at personal development, meeting economic, social and cultural objectives, and adapting to changing trades and demands of work place.

Demonstrate the ability to use scientific skills for formulating and tackling industrial problems and identifying and applying appropriate scientific principles and methodologies to solve a wide range of problems associated with society.

PSO2:

Develop procedural knowledge that creates different types of professionals related to all the disciplines of science including research and development teaching and government and public service.

PSO3:

Acquire scientific communication skills to present the results of studies undertaken accurately in a range of different contexts using the main concepts in technical as well as popular science meetings organized in various Universities and other private organizations.
