About Us
With the enriched heritage in arts, architecture, culture and tradition of Rajasthan “Design” today has become a need of every human being; it has come a long way in India since the past two decades. Given the vibrant economy and dynamic market forces, the industry is bound to grow exponentially. The scope of design has widened its avenues.
With a strong legacy in education for Civil and Architectural studies, The School of Design & Arts is an extension to the quality education that Poornima University has been imparting in the past. The Design Programmes of SDA are accredited by The Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID).
SDA culture encourages thinking, questioning and experimenting to harness the artistic and intellectual potential of each individual and place the institution at the leading edge of contemporary art and design discourse. A multi-disciplinary approach inculcates self-initiated learning and independent thinking and expands perceptual perspectives. Regular interaction with design studios, production and distribution centers and industry forms a vital bridge between design school and the Industry.
The courses are so designed to develop the learner’s worldview understanding and the socio-cultural context of Design.
Objectives
The holistic and philanthropic model was designed to address nuances of professional design, revival of indigenous art and craft techniques providing design solutions. The aim was to provide professional human resources, technological development solutions, establish as a knowledge service provider and design hub catering to the need of design industry located in the Region. These advanced approach to societal and economic development and sustainable future goal helped in promoting art, cultural and heritage urban renewal symbolizing humanitarianism. SDA constantly strives for excellence by introducing new academic and extension programs like vocational education imbibing consultancy services and research. This holistic model of design institute provides education to people from marginal and vulnerable communities locally and regionally. The strategic partnership with Design organizations and industry ensures sustained growth relevant to design education of the nation amalgamating global standards.

Program Educational Objectives
PEO-1 : Technical Adeptness
To be able to choose from a number of career options available in Research & Development, Manufacturing, Entrepreneurship, Design Services, consultancies, Independent Design firms and work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
PEO-2 : Awareness of Social Impact
To create individuals capable of collaborating and working with other organizations or individuals as an effective team to carry out business on an international and National level.
PEO-3 : Professionalism
To be able to inculcate qualities like crisp communication skills, business acumen, effective execution, imagination and to inculcate a global awareness and a sustainable career prospect.

Apply the knowledge of design fundamentals, and a specialization to the solution of complex design problems.
PO2: Problem analysis :
Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex design problems reaching substantiated conclusions using elements and principles of design.
PO3: Design/Development of solutions :
Design solutions for complex problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems :
Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5: Modern tool usage :
Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern designing and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex designing activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6: The Designer and Society :
Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional design practice.

Understand the impact of the professional designing solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
